Halfway Hounds and Edgewater Community Center are sponsoring a free seminar on techniques for training and walking your dog. Dog Behaviorist, Carl Zive, will teach you how to get your dog to walk on a leash, cooperate, stop pulling and follow rather than lead.

Carl Zive

Find out how to correct other behavior issues like nipping, dominance, jumping, pulling and lunging, greeting people who come in the door.  The thirty-minute seminar is followed by a question and answer period to provide guidance on any dog issue.

Carl Zive

Topics include:

  • Leash walking: Reduce pulling and lunging

  • Greeting other animals and people at your door and on the street

  • Corrections to make when your dog gets distracted

  • When your dog puts on the "brakes"

  • Nipping

  • House breaking

  • Fears and phobias

  • Puppy training

  • The proper way to leave your house for a walk

  • Tips for walking large and small dogs

Carl Zive

This seminar is for people only, please leave the doggies at home.

Halfway Hounds is a Park Ridge, NJ based canine rescue group. Halfway Hounds’ mission is to give homeless dogs a new leash on life by offering them the obedience training, behavior modification and emotional rehabilitation they need to become adoptable pets.

Halfway Hounds assists potentially adoptable dogs who have been owner surrendered or can no longer stay at a shelter. Our program provides every dog with a foster home and a customized training program to prepare them for adoption. In addition, new pet owners receive a behavior assessment report on the dog, free or discounted obedience training and follow-up visits and calls from a trainer.

Halfway Hounds is a volunteered based non-profit organization and a recognized 501(c)3. We need donations, volunteers and foster homes.
